Each year GLINN (Gay Lesbian International News Network) puts together a list of the top 10 Gay Ghetto’s.  I know, I know, Gay Ghetto sounds negative but it totally is a possitive thing.  According to GLINN Gay Ghetto’s represent areas of blossoming pride, celebration, and reliable real estate value.

Short Hills/Metuchen/Surrounding Areas

Short Hills Millburn / Maplewood, South Orange, Metuchen actually came in #6 on their list for 2008.

In actuality this whole area is very gay friendly and a number of gay households can be found in most all of the towns along the Morristown Line of New Jersey Transit, sometimes called the Midtown Direct train line for its many trains that go express to Penn station in NYC without stopping.

Maplewood and South Orange tend to be more affordable towns for the New Jersey Gay community, with Millburn being more expensive but having just a bit of a different flair.

I am sure you are all aware that we are currently in a buyers real estate market.  That means that the home buyer has the upper hand when it comes to striking a good deal on the home of their choice.  Currently we have a rare combination of low home prices, low mortgage interest rates, and very motivated home sellers here in New Jersey.  In short, if you are interested in owning a home, strike while the real estate market is right for the buyer.  I have written an article talking more about this including the benefits that are out there titled Real Estate Buyers’ Market Morris County New Jersey.  In reality the article applies to all of Norther New Jersey, including Essex County and Union County.
